Just over a decade ago, my wife and I closed on our first home. We were nervous and had every right to be. Owning a home determines your community, and your children’s education, and impacts your financial future.
Even though we were a mess of anxiety, as I look back now, the equity we built in our home allowed us to confidently start a family, relocate to Austin Texas, and pursue new careers.
In my former life, I served as a teacher and then as a middle school principal. Education has always been at the heart of what I do, and it’s why clients feel comfortable working with me.
I become invested in all of our client’s transactions because I know I am working with people’s ambitions and livelihoods, not numbers on a screen.
My goal through Couch Home Loans is to educate and empower families to own a home that fits their needs and lives up to their dreams.

Wendell Couch

I began my mortgage career in 1991 with a large financial institution in north Georgia, holding the positions of Vice President of Construction Lending and Retail Mortgage Loan Production. Years later, I joined another large financial institution as Group Vice President of Mortgage lending. Here, I founded the mortgage lending and construction department. In 2008, I became the EVP of sales for the largest independent mortgage company in Georgia. In this position, I managed over two billion in retail mortgage closings and managed 250 employees. I have personally originated over 9,000 retail loans while managing over 10,000 loan closings a year. In March of 2023, I decided to form Couch Home Loans powered by Barrett Financial, a leading mortgage lending company with over 4 billion a year in closings. Partnering with my son, Parker Couch, we are committed to the very best in mortgage lending at a level of service and price borrowers deserve.
